Get To Know Our Current Board Members: Terry Memory
Our current Committee Member Terry Memory of 13 Seeds has been serving on the elected Board since 2017 and will not be standing for the position again for 2020/2021.
Terry has an extensive background in business development, sales and marketing and has founded four companies over the last twenty years.
Around 15-years ago, Terry began with a concerted effort into understanding market opportunities for hemp, and in 2015 planted the first trial crop on his farm in Southern Tasmania. The following year, Terry and his partner Gemma founded 13 Seeds Hemp Farm in Tasmania and developed what is currently Australia's largest range of hemp food and skincare. Incredibly, 13 Seeds launched a total of thirteen hemp-based food products on the 13th of November 2017 (the day the national law around hemp for food was finally changed).
Terry designed and built Tasmania's only dedicated Hemp Food HACCP Certified production facility in Kingston, Tasmania; built and commissioned the first small scale hemp seed dehulling facility in Tasmania (the third in Australia); has expanded his contract growing from one hectare in 2015 to over 100 hectares by 2018, and attained outside capital investment for the company that same year.
After three years of service and contribution to our association's success alongside this incredible effort and list of achievements, Terry will be stepping down from his position as Committee Member at the next AGM.
All of our elected Board are volunteers and we have an incredibly experienced and expert group of people at the helm of the association. We could not do any of our vital work as the peak industry body in Tasmania without them!
