Updated: Jul 31
Our current President Tim Schmidt has been serving on the Board of the THA since 2016 and will be standing for his position again for 2020/2021.
Tim has been farming in Tasmania for the last 20-years. In 2003, Tim’s family purchased Woodlands, a 350-hectare farm near Deloraine in Northern Tasmania which had previously belonged to Tim’s wife Pip’s family. While primarily a beef-trading and dairy agistment farm, the Schmidt's also grow potatoes and hemp.
Since becoming the President of the Tasmanian Hemp Association, Tim has since become an important voice and incredibly hard-working advocate for the state’s hemp industry. Tim also sits on the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association’s Meat Council, is a longstanding chairman of the Deloraine Landcare Group, a past chairman of the Meander Valley Council Natural Resource Management Committee, and Committee Member of the Meander Valley Water Users.
Tim also serves as President of the newly formed Australian Hemp Council, a 7-member Federation model group representing each Australian State and the Northern Territory on behalf of Industrial Hemp Industry growers and processors.
